7 PVSS user access

When a user wants to start a user interface in order to browse the data he/she has to first login to DCS. Depending on the login name, the user has different user rights inside the system. User levels can be divided into four cathegory. Here is the list of the cathegorys from user with the lowest access level to root, which is an administrator of the system:

  1. observer = able to observe the system, but can not do any actions
  2. operator = observer + capable to make actions like masking alarms, disabling device, etc. + able to switch ON/OFF high voltage channels
  3. "detector expert" = observer + Full rights into one specific detector i.e. can also change the settings of HV channel (v0, i1, etc.) belonging to that detector
  4. root = Full rights to all the detectors and also to the whole PVSS system

Every detector experts has their own unique user name to be used by all the persons working with that specific detector. Users can define their own password for their user names, but in most of the cases the password is an empty string. Here is the list of all the created PVSS accounts with the password (if exists):
