5.2 Objectivity Database connection

When one wants to store historic values from PVSS database into ODB the PVSS project for ODB has to run instead. This instruction is not complete and more information should be found from document provided by Andrea Manara.

1. login into pccompass07 by using onl account with mentioned password
2. ODB application supports only C shell and therefore one has to move from Bash into Csh. This can be done by typing: csh
3. Set the environmental variables by running the script called envForOdb.csh. Note This script is for BA shell and before use should be modified according to the syntax of C-shell.:

(source /home/compassdcs/dcs_data/pvss_project/compass_dcs/odb/envForOdb.csh)

4. Start PVSS
5. Modify the PVSS script called cdb.ctl in order to select the needed data (name of the datapoints and time scale). This script is located in:

/home/compassdcs/dcs_data/pvss_project/compass_dcs/odb/scripts

6. Run the modified script:

PVSS07ctrl -num 7 odb.ctl

Note: The main PVSS system in pccompass04 has to run for being able to browse the data located in PVSS DB.
